Slight Fall In Unemployment Rate

Australia unemployment rate fell 0.1 per cent to 5.5 per cent in May, official figures show.
The April figure was upwardly revised to 5.6 per cent from 5.5 per cent.
The total number or people with jobs rose 1,100 to 11.663 million in the month, according to seasonally adjusted figures released by the Australian Bureau of Statistics today.
The forecast was for total employment to fall 10,000 in May with the unemployment rate to be 5.6 per cent, according to AAP's survey of 13 market economists.
Full-time employment fell 5,300 to 8.154 million in May and part-time employment was up 6,400 to 3.51 million.
The May participation rate was 65.2 per cent, down from 65.3 per cent in April.
The participation rate is the proportion of the population that have a job, are looking for work or ready to start work.
